Situation

England Netball was seeking to improve and enhance the service that its website offered, whilst at the same time looking to increase its awareness and grow its online audience.  England Netball also required its new website to be as easy to manage as possible, and wanted to ensure its staff had as much control over the updating of the site as possible.

 

Task

bcsAgency was required to throughly scope and plan the new website for England Netball, this included everything from page structure, page layout through to recommending an appropriate technical platform and ensuring social media was threaded throughout the site.  bcsAgency recommended a phased approach to the task to ensure that England Netball had a redesigned site in time for a key deadline but also to ensure that the project remained to budget and faithful to the original scope. 

 

Action

bcsAgency implemented a thorough planning stage to the project, which included requirements capture from key stakeholders and the production of sitemaps and wireframes.  This process then fed into producing a completely new, refreshed and modern design for the site.  Throughout the planning and design process bcsAgency also researched and reviewed a variety of content management systems (CMS) and highlighted an enterprise .NET system which could deliver both the functionality and flexibility that England Netball required. 

 

During the build of the site full training was provided to key England Netball staff on how to use the content management system, and how to write good and compelling copy for the web.  At the end of the build and content deployment phase 1 of the project was launched and phase 2 was immediately kicked off.

 

Result

The reception from England Netball members and internally from within the organisation has been extremely positive and the site has been regularly updated with new content by England Netball administrators.  By threading social media throughout the site England Netball also saw a spike in their followers on Twitter and Facebook and have since appointed a dedicated social marketing executive to enhance their social media offering.
